DTN COMMENTS: A light trade is developing in most areas Northern dressed
deals are marked at mostly $372, $9 higher than last week's weighted
average basis Nebraska. Southern live deals are at $240, $5 higher (basis
Kansas) than last week's very limited transactions. Some asking prices
remain firm at $242-plus in the South, and $375 in the North.
Beef cutouts are higher at midday (choice 367.00 +0.89, select 350.36
+1.43) with moderate to good box movement (107.34 lds of choice cuts,
14.24 lds of select cuts, 12.05 lds of trim, and 5.27 lds of ground).
Cattle futures are sharply/significantly lower at this time, with many
feeder issues locked limit down.
